Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos

We find ourselves in unprecedented times as people around the world are faced with new obstacles from the coronavirus outbreak. The health and well-being of our team, clients, those in our communities and around the world is our top priority. As we adjust to a new normal, we thought it would be a good time to discuss the strategies and challenges of working effectively from home while juggling homeschooling children, communicating virtually, and trying to maintain normalcy when so much around us has changed. This is such an uncertain and scary time both personally and professionally for everyone, but especially small business owners. Right now, our clients are relying on White Label Studio more than ever to guide them regarding voice, tone, and messaging in their communications and social media. We’ve really encouraged our clients to take a second look at their content to ensure it’s suitable for the current conditions. Our clients are focusing on promoting their social media channels, like Pinterest, that provides inspiration at home. Shopping at home, sample orders, and dreaming about new flooring online are all key messages for our industry. The tone is more serious and respectful right now. It’s important to keep things positive but to respect what everyone is dealing with at large.
In addition to being a co-founder and business owner, Mollie Surratt is now having to homeschool her two daughters and prepare more meals. “We get up, have breakfast, and once my girls get settled into their schoolwork, I begin working. My kitchen table has become our command station with my work materials as well as home school materials. We’ve established a schedule, but when I take work breaks—we’ll do a fun art class or take a walk outside. Although I never expected life would be like this, I’m trying to treasure the extra time I’m spending with my family,” says Mollie. The greatest challenge for all of us during this time is the uncertainty ahead. No one knows how long the pandemic and social restrictions will last, so we’re all living in the unexpected. Our goal is to maintain a leadership position of hope, optimism, and calmness both at home and for White Label Studio. While the timeframe isn’t definitive, this too will pass, and we’ll all come out on the other side. We encourage our clients and all business owners to stay the course and keep the faith. We believe in times of crisis or struggle that there are life lessons to learn. We want to use the extra family time we all have now to reflect and be present. Once the pandemic is over, we plan to schedule fewer activities so that we have more time together to create special family moments at home. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people, businesses, and healthcare workers impacted by COVID-19. We’re all in this together!
